Visiting the Buddhist monastery at Rajpur was an unforgettable experience. Set in the serene surroundings of a quiet suburb of the city. The students were impressed by the imposing structure of the monastery and they found the architecture both intricate and beautiful. A feeling of deep serenity was experienced as the children’s turned the Buddhist prayer wheels while in their hearts they asked for their innermost wishes to be granted. They got a firsthand taste and exposure to Tibetan Buddhism. The monks wearing dark-red robes went about their dairy chores unperturbed by the hustle and bustle of city life. The boys stood in awe looking at the giant statue of the Golden Buddha situated in the centre of the monastery on a high pedestal. The pious monks untiringly recited the holy verses as they sat in several rows. A quaint feeling of peace surrounds the temple premises amidst the holy chants reverberating throughout the monastery. The walls were engraved with beautiful images of gods and goddesses of Buddhist origin.
