The main Army cantonment in the valley is situated near the Doon school. Last week a presentation was held at the cantonment wherein a large assortment of weapons was on display for the benefit of the enthusiastic visitors. The army jawans dressed in immaculate uniforms went about explaining the technicalities of the formidable weapons kept out in open the as exhibits. The visitor got an insight into the nation’s defence capabilities and preparedness. Artillery was referred to as the gods of war. These mighty cannons could strikes terror in the hearts of the enemy. Hand-held guns along with grenade launchers were the favourite weapons of the infantry. This visit was an eye opener for our students who realised the importance of a well-equipped and highly trained army. It was heartening to experience that our jawans were always ready to make the supreme sacrifice whenever the country needed it and the students could feel the first hand that the defence forces offered an exciting and promising career.
